Wedding card

I've only made a couple wedding cards, including this one.  I do know that I love the white on white style cards!  To make this I used the quatrefoil embossing folder on a 5"x5" piece of white daisy cardstock.  I tied the ribbon around the piece and used some liquid glass under the knot to keep it in place and under a couple small spots that would be covered by the layered piece.  Then the 3"x3" piece was embossed with a flower embossing folder I have and layered on the 3 1/4"x3 1/4" piece.  I used the shower flower occasions stamp set for the sentiment, and finished with some clear gems.  I've been trying to make sure that I stamp the inside of cards to really finish them off.  For the inside I used the August stamp of the month, using smokey plum (retiring Aug 31st) and slate inks.

Get Organized!

Get Organized

During the month of August you can get your hands on two NEW organizational products!  It gets even better though.  When you purchase the new marker roll-up at full retail price, you will receive the new D-size stamp set Balloon Wishes for FREE!  Or if you place an order for the new accessory roll-up at full retail price, you will receive two new Base & Bling style sheets, Affirmations and Lovely Blooms FREE!  These are new items that are a part of the new catalog but they are offering them as part of the August Campaign.

The accessory roll-up is going to be great for all those little sheets of dots, gems, brads, and other small items.  I think this is going to be a hit for when you want to take your embellishments with you.  There are 16 compartments total.  Plus it has a hanging loop for vertical storage too!  I can't wait to get mine soon.  The Base & Bling sheets are going to look great on the new items coming out too!

The marker roll-up is the perfect way to store your Shin Han markers, CTMH has a great selection of colors.  The detail you can get with them while coloring in a stamped image is great!  Plus with the loop for vertical storage your items will always be close, but not falling everywhere.  Also did you know that the best way to store your markers or is horizontal?  It keeps the tips from drying out.

Here's a peak of the freebies you can get when you place an order!

Brushed WOTG layout 2

This was the second layout that I came up with to go with the Brushed WOTG.  The stamp set used was last months stamp of the month.  I still have tons of paper left to create a couple more layouts from the workshop.  I haven't really gotten around to it since we went camping and then had a wedding to attend.

If I were to recreate this I think I would have added a couple of white squares to the left page to seem more balanced since I didn't have anymore of that color.

Brushed WOTG

I just created the first layout for the Brushed Workshop on the Go.  My exact thoughts after finishing and standing up to take a better look were "did I really just create something this beautiful?"  I'm not trying to sound full of myself at all, but man does it feel good to improve your techniques!  I've stated several times that girly is not my comfort zone at all and I've been working to get my stamped images to come out more crisp.  For this workshop I scoured Pinterest for Inspiration, you can find my board here.  I found a great layout that didn't seem to difficult to recreate and adapt to what I like.

I think this is really important to search for your artistic inspiration and try to imitate that to improve your skill.  You don't have to scraplift the entire layout if you don't want but start with the basics and let it evolve from there.  What I mean by this, is I decided to use all the same papers as the original and keep the majority of the project the same.  As I went along I made some changes to my embossing folder used on the canary paper (yellow).  Also I tend to take more horizontal photos so I changed the orientation of the matts on the right page.  This layout did take me longer because I stamped a lot more. I hope you like it!  If you would like that feeling or to learn how to create something like this contact me and I'd love to have a get together with the girls!

Shimmer Trimmed cards

I'm loving shimmer trim!  These were a project from a meeting that I never got around to creating.  I did take a lot of inspiration from a fellow consultant Sara Batkin.  She's amazing and I have learned a lot from her!

When Corporate gave us the project they gave us all the small pieces of card stock precut.  All the patterned pieces are from a My Crush book that we took apart!  I love thinking outside the box like that.  I never would have considered taking one apart to create cards or even scrapbook layouts.  I'll have those for you next.  Below are the cards that I created.

The cards are 5.5"x4.25".  I really enjoyed making these cards.  I'm trying to get into more of a groove creating more often.  I always say our hobby is preserving memories and making heartfelt crafts not buying pretty stuff to sit on a shelf!

The card below was inspired by a recent baby announcement.  They are having a boy but I thought how perfect because babies are such a wonderful gift!

Every now and then I happen to craft while the kids are awake.  That also happens to be when I make mistakes and have to come up with something to fix it.  For this card I asked  my 6 year old what color combinations he liked best and what ink colors he thought I should use.  I like to see what my kids come up with because sometimes their ideas work out really well!

For this card I used liquid glass on the centers of the flowers.  I really like how it adds something but isn't over the top.

The piece that says love is vellum.  This is one of those cards that had an accident but you would never know.  I had already attached the background paper to the card base.  Then I attached the vellum piece, only I was watching and talking to the kids.  So I attached it to the side that opens, it was upside down. Then I tried to gently pull it off and ripped it!  So that wasn't going to work.  I just decided to cut the card in half and save the work I had done.  I added the navy piece and shimmer trim to hide the tear and the adhesive.

Mother's Day mini album

I made my Mother-in-law a cute mini album for Mother's day.  She always wants pictures of the kids but likes good old fashioned hard copies.  Which is something I can appreciate.  I've never made my own before but thought I'd give it a shot.  I kept the colors more neutral with some glacier as an accent color.  I mixed patterns since I kept all the colors similar.  I also used some gold polka dot washi tape.  The paper was cut to 6x12 and attached together by washi tape.

Here I stamped all the images and then went over them with liquid glass.

This is the inside, I used the washi to create a couple flaps for additional photos.

I used double sided paper so that helped with coordinating the paper.  This is the backside.  I used liquid glass to secure the ribbon under the back cover.

Just a few of the pictures that I included in the album.

Overall this album wasn't really difficult and would be very easy for a beginner.  *Here's a tip too:  I don't have a score board yet so I did improvise by using the groove of my paper cutter and a boning tool.

Teacher Thank you cards

It's been forever since I've posted anything and honestly I haven't had a chance to work on much since April.  The end of April and all of May are usually busy, but this year was insane!  Filled with Birthdays (two of the littles plus mine), a girls trip, our Anniversary, Mother's day, a Wedding, a graduation party, football and baseball.

So that brings us to June.  My kids have a day and a half left of school.  As in, 11:45 Thursday, they are done for the summer!  So nothing like waiting until the last minute to make some Thank you cards for their teachers.

This was my current desk situation today.

Since I'm still fairly new to stamping, I like to practice before I stamp directly onto my project.  I'm actually really glad I did too, because I'm still figuring out which color is the best to stamp first the lighter or darker.  Plus it helped to season this new stamp set.  This is what I came up with and I really like it!

First, the card is 5 1/2" x 5 1/2".  I cut the base yellow piece 5" x 5".  The white stamped piece is 4.75" x 4.75".  For the stamping I stamped the lighter, petal colors first.  Then stamped the outline in black.  I love the look of this it almost reminded me of the way water colors look.  My stamping was a little off on the pink but improved with the other ones!

To make the outline stamping easier I would look for a point that stands out to you and focus on that.  For me it was the curved tip on the bottom petal.

I used a small bit of liquid glass behind the knot to keep it in place.  Then foam adhesive to pop it off the background.

Hope you enjoyed this!

Supplies I used for this project:

A Budding friendship                           Have a Happy day                    Glacier

Canary                                                      Pixie                                               Black

Seaside Part 3

It's taken a little bit but I did it, I stretched my workshop into five double page layouts!  My goal was to try to get three or four so I was pleased that I made it to five.  I was able to do this by using the front and back of the paper.  I used every scrap that was 1/2" and bigger.  I stuck to the stamps, inks, and dots for the workshop.  The fiber that was used was the only thing that didn't come with this workshop and I've actually had it for quite awhile so it needed to be used.

For the first layout I can fit four 3.75x4" photos on the Sorbet color cardstock.  I inked the edge of the cardstock too.

On the Pear cardstock you can fit two 3.5x6" photos.  One 6x3" on the Desert Sand, and one 3x5" on the Colonial white.  Or you could do two 3x3" photos on the Desert Sand.

For this layout you can fit three 4x6" photos on the left and two on the right.  As well as two 3.5x3.5" photos on the right.

For the last layout I used the stamp that looks like a net to make a background design.  The left page can fit one 4x6" photo and one 4x3.5" photo.  The right can fit one 4.5x4.5" photo and one 5x7" photo.  I also added a small journaling scrap.

The measurements are for the size of the photo not the size of the paper.  Those sizes could always be adjusted to how much of the photo mat you prefer to show.  I usually leave 1/4" showing around the photo.

I hope this has shown you that scrapbooking can be as much or as little as you want!  The workshop is a great option for stretching your money on supplies.

Blossom Birthday Card

I created a Birthday card last week for a friend.  I haven't created a lot of cards but I wanted to see what I could come up with using the new Blossom paper and the Stamp of the Month for April, Typed Note.  My lighting isn't the greatest here, but here it is.  I over think stuff all the time and told myself during nap time that I would go and just see what I could come up with.  I didn't let myself get hung up.  I just kept saying keep going and let the creativity flow, then if I don't like it I can always start over.  This isn't a difficult card so it didn't take me very long.

I wanted to use colors that all coordinated so I used the colors from the Blossom paper.  I used Sunset, Pear, and Juniper inks.  The diagonal striped paper is a zip strip, then I added a scrap with a dove tail end, and finally a piece of teal shimmer trim.

The Stamp of the Month is just $5 with a $50 purchase and if you are purchasing a grab bag that counts towards that amount!

Here's are all the stamps included in the Typed Note stamp set:
